WORLD MISSION DAY: This will be celebrated at Masses TODAY Saturday and Sunday.  There will be a 2nd Collection for the work of the Church in the field of the Missions – please be generous!


CHILDREN’S INITIATION: The Enrolment Service for Confirmation/First Communion children will now take place at Masses TODAY 21st/22nd October.


“DO THIS IN MEMORY”: The Kilmarnock and Loudoun Parishes are introducing this new programme for the children who are preparing for the Sacrament of Eucharist next year.  Throughout the year there will be a special message on set weekend Masses where the children and their families are invited to come to Church with their special Prayer Candle. The first of these dates is TODAY. 


NOVEMBER LISTS: These lists and envelopes are available at the back of the church.  Please fill them in so that the intentions can be placed on the altar during each November Mass.


EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Fr. Martin will lead a session for ALL Eucharistic Ministers of St. Sophia’s, Mount Carmel and St. Matthew’s.  It will take place at St. Matthew’s Church NEXT Sunday, 29th October from 5pm until around 6.30pm.  It will look at the Ministry in general but in particular how to take Communion to the Sick and Housebound. 


CONFERENCE ON LITURGICAL MUSIC: The National Liturgy Commission has invited Benjamin Saunders, Director of Music for the Diocese of Leeds, to speak to church musicians and singers on Saturday, 11th November 2017. EVENING ON JOHN’S GOSPEL: THIS Tuesday, 24th October (7pm) we will welcome Canon Michael McMahon to Mount Carmel Church where he will lead an evening’s reflection on John’s Gospel.  Please come along to be inspired by this most inspiring speaker.  All are very welcome.


SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS: Will take place on Wed 1st Nov and is a Holyday of Obligation.  Masses will be celebrated as follows: St. Paul’s Church-9am; St. Sophia’s School-9.30am; Mount Carmel Church-11am; St. Joseph’s Church-12.30pm; St. Matthew’s  Church-7pm.


JOINT PASTORAL COUNCIL: For ALL parishioners of Mount Carmel, St. Matthew’s and St. Sophia’s.  It will take place in St. Sophia’s Church Hall, Galston on Thursday, 2nd November at 7pm.  All are welcome.                                                                              RCIA:  Do you know of anyone in Kilmarnock and Loudoun who wishes to become a Catholic or know more about the Catholic faith?  Come to an information evening on Sunday, 5th November at 5pm in St. Matthew’s Hall.  This is for parishioners of St. Sophia’s. Mount Carmel and St. Matthew’s.


ST. MATTHEW’S FABRIC & FINANCE GP: Will meet in the Hall on Thursday, 9th November at 7pm.                                                       FIRST WORLD DAY OF THE POOR: Pope Francis has called for Sunday 19th Nov to be the ‘World Day of the Poor.’  In his letter for that day, Pope Francis says: Let us love, not with words but with deeds.  As a practical step for that day you are invited to bring ONE TIN TO MASS (any food item) which will be the distributed to the Foodbank.  Boxes will be placed at the back of Church.                                                                                                                                                                                                  WEEK OF GUIDED PRAYER:  This will take place at St. Matthew’s Church from Sunday, 26th November til Friday, 1st December.  It is open to parishioners from St. Sophia’s, Mount Carmel as well as St. Matthew’s.  In such weeks people sign up for two things: to pray with a particular Scripture passage; and to meet with a Prayer Guide to review the prayer life.  Please sign up in the porch today so that we can arrange how many guides are needed.


EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS: Would all Eucharistic Ministers who are willing and able to help take Communion to the Sick and Housebound make themselves known to Fr. Martin.  Suitable training will be put in place.




ADVENT FORWARD PLANNING:  In an effort to unite in “Embracing Change”, there will be ONE Advent Reconciliation Service for Kilmarnock and Loudoun.  It will take place at St. Joseph’s Church on Monday, 11th Dec at 7pm


CHRISTMAS FORWARD PLANNING: So that people can plan ahead ….For the Feast of Christmas Masses will be celebrated as follows:


Dec 24th: 6pm-Mount Carmel; 8pm-St. Sophia’s; 9pm-St. Joseph’s


Dec 25th: St. Paul’s-9am; 9.30am-St. Matthew’s; 11am-St. Joseph’s
