FR. MARTIN’S PRAYER AT NEW YEAR:  In thankfulness for all that you have given to make our Church a happy and welcoming place, we pray that God will grant our Church and all our families the blessing of his peace as we embark on a New Year.


ANNUAL CRIB APPEAL:  The money collected at the crib will be for the St. Margaret Children and Family Care Society. 


HOGMANAY REFLECTION NIGHT:  St. Matthew’s will host this event on Sunday, 31st December.  Quiet prayer in the Church from 4pm finishing with a Hogmanay Prayer Service at 5.30pm. 


STEWARTON MASS: The next Mass at Our Lady & St. John’s will be on Saturday, 6th January 2018 at 11am.


ST. SOPHIA’S COFFEES:  Coffees, teas and biscuits will be served in St. Sophia’s Hall next Saturday, 6th January from 5pm.  Please come along and join in the chat.


SPECIAL COLLECTION: There will be a collection for the JUSTICE & PEACE COMMISSION on 6th/7th January.  Please be generous


CHILDREN’S INITIATION: The next ‘Do this in Memory of Me’ weekend is 13th/14th January.  Children are asked to bring their Prayer Candle to Mass.


ST ANDREW’S PRIMARY ENROLMENT: Parents of children due to commence attendance at school in August 2018 should enrol their child during the week of January 15th at the following times:


Monday 15th January – 1:30PM – 2:30PM; Tuesday 16th January – 9:30AM – 11:30AM;


Wednesday 17th January 1:30PM – 2:30PM; Thursday 18th January – 9:30AM – 11:30AM


ST. SOPHIA’S FABRIC & FINANCE GROUP: This will take place in St. Sophia’s Hall on Thursday, 18th January at 7pm.  All are welcome


CHILDREN’S INITIATION: There will be a Children’s Retreat at Mount Carmel Church on Saturday, 20th January from 10am-2pm.  Children are asked to bring a packed lunch. At the end of the Retreat, there will be a parents’ meeting (2-2.30pm)


HCPT CHARITY NIGHT: Fr. Martin has arranged a night to raise funds for HCPT Gp. 138 (of which he is chaplain), who will travel to Lourdes this Easter with the children’s pilgrimage.  The concert will take place in St. Matthew’s Hall on Friday 2nd February 2018. Live entertainment, Italian Buffet and fundraising raffles. Tickets will be available soon - cost £10


JOINT PASTORAL COUNCIL: The Joint Pastoral Council for St. Sophia’s, Mount Carmel and St. Matthew’s will now take place on Tuesday, 13th February at 7pm in Mount Carmel Church.  Please note the change of date.


SPECIAL COLLECTION: Many thanks to all who contributed at the Christmas Masses to the work amongst the homeless.  £383.38 was raised at St. Matthew’s, £???? was raised at Mount Carmel and £??????? was raised at St. Sophia’s.  This money will be split between Shelter UK and the Homeless in Ecuador.


CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS DAY MASS: Many thanks to all the Children who took part in various ways to make our Christmas Masses such prayerful and joyful occasions.  Many thanks to the children who gave a Baby Gift which has now been given to Hillhouse Care which helps young families in need


LONDON MARATHON: Just to prove his insanity, Fr. Martin has signed up for the London Marathon and will run (slowly) on April 22nd 2018.  He will be running for two charities: MS (his Mum has had MS since the 70s); and the Ecuador Trust.  More details of sponsorship later – just wipe his brow if you see him out training!
CONFIRMATION 2018:  The date for the Sacrament of Confirmation for our Deanery has been set.  Bishop Nolan will administer the sacrament in Mount Carmel Church on Thursday, 8th February 2018 at 7pm.


WEDDINGS: Any couple wishing to be married in ST. SOPHIA’S, Mount Carmel or St. Matthew’s in the coming years should speak to Fr. Martin as soon as possible.
