PIONEER TOTAL ABSTINENCE ASSOCIATION:  Is once again promoting the ‘Short-term Pledge for Lent’ – leaflets are available at the back of Church.

 

FIRST RECONCILIATION: The children of all the Parishes in our area who have been preparing for Reconciliation will celebrate FIRST RECONCILIATION on Monday, 12th March at 7pm in St. Joseph’s Church.

 

PARISH OPEN MEETINGS: At the recent Joint Pastoral Council, Fr. Martin announced that, instead of calling ‘Fabric and Finance’ meetings, there would be general OPEN MEETINGS in each Parish community so that all Parish items (incl finance) could be discussed.  Such meetings are open to all parishioners. The following dates are set for OPEN MEETINGS:

 

St. Matthew’s – Thursday, 15th March at 7pm

 

It is hoped that parishioners will volunteer to run such meetings.

 

CATHEDRAL SUNG EVENING PRAYER FOR LENT: Evening Prayer of the Church will be sung in St Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr on Sunday, 18th March at 5.00 pm.  You will be very welcome.

 

LENTEN RECONCILIATION SERVICE: This will take place at St. Matthew’s Church on Thursday, 22nd March at 7pm.  It is for all parishioners of St. Sophia’s, St. Matthew’s and Mount Carmel.

 

BISHOP NOLAN: Will visit St. Sophia’s, St. Matthew’s and Mount Carmel on the weekend of 24th/25th March.

 

MASS OF CHRISM: This will take place at St. Margaret’s Cathedral, Ayr on Tuesday, 27th March at 7pm.

 

EASTER TRIDUUM: After some initial discussion at the recent Joint Pastoral Council, Fr. Martin has set the following arrangements for the Easter Triduum: Mass of the Lord’s Supper – 29th March at 7pm in Our Lady of Mount Carmel; Commemoration of the Lord’s Passion – 30th March at 3pm in St. Matthew’s; Easter Vigil – 31st March at 8pm in St. Sophia’s; Easter Sunday Masses – 1st April at 9.30am in St. Matthew’s and at 11am in Our Lady of Mount Carmel.

 

EASTER BREAKFAST:  This ecumenical prayer service (very short) will take place at the Kay Park memorial (beside the Burns Statue) at 7am on April 1st (this is NOT an April Fools).  It will be led by St Kentigern’s Church and will be followed by a Breakfast at their Church.  ALL PEOPLE ARE WELCOME!!

 

LONDON MARATHON: Fr. Martin Chambers will run the London Marathon for two charities: MS SOCIETY – his Mum has had MS for over 40 years; ECUADOR TRUST – where he worked for 5 years. Please sponsor him on the sheets at the back of Church (if you wish, you can take a form away and gather sponsors from your own family/friends). WEDDINGS: Any couple wishing to be married in ST. SOPHIA’S, Mount Carmel or St. Matthew’s in the coming years should speak to Fr. Martin as soon as possible.
