GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

4th Sunday of Easter – Year A

7th May 2017

PRIEST:  Today Jesus is presented as the Good Shepherd.  We pray that our world and communities will be touched by the call of the Shepherd of Love ….

READER:

We pray for the children who today are receiving and preparing to receive the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time: may it be for them and their families a time of grace and love.

LORD, HEAR US …

The Gospel calls us today to listen to the Voice of the Good Shepherd.  We pray that the Church might work throughout the world so that the voice of Christ’s dignity might be heard by all people.

LORD, HEAR US …

Psalm 23 reminds us that the Good Shepherd leads us to fresh and green pastures where we find rest.  We pray that the same spirit of care might be the inspiration for our own government leaders; that they might care for the weakest and the poorest.

LORD, HEAR US …

We are reminded today that there are many ways to find life in today’s modern world but only one way – in Christ – to find THE FULLNESS OF LIFE.  We pray for all those who are searching for meaning and direction in life, that they might find help through our own efforts in charity and love

LORD, HEAR US …

We pray for all pupils and students preparing for and sitting exams at this time.  May they work hard so that their dreams might become a reality.

LORD, HEAR US ….

We pray that those who have died may receive eternal life in Heaven … (Pause) … and we spend a moment praying for our own needs … (further Pause) …

LORD, HEAR US …

PRIEST:  God our Father, hear these prayers and inspire us that we might find life by listening to the voice of your Son, Jesus Christ, the Good Shepherd who lives for ever and ever. Amen.
