Priest:         Today we are reminded that our God is abundant in his love and mercy.  We pray now for all our needs …

Reader:

1.       In today’s Gospel we see Jesus feeding the large crowd which reminds us of God’s great generosity.  We pray for a spirit of generosity and co-operation amongst world leaders: may they cast aside the values of self-interest and self-glory and work for the good of all people.

          LORD, HEAR US …

2.                 The Isaiah reading today says “though you have no money, come to the water.”  We pray for all those in our world who are without water and without food and shelter.   May we – from the abundance of God’s gifts – share with those who are in need

LORD, HEAR US.

3.                 This week we welcome the VIDES community to our Parishes as they run an Activity Week for our young people.  We pray that God will bless their efforts and that our young people may be built up in hope.

               LORD, HEAR US …

4.                 We pray for ourselves: may we place less importance on the material aspects of our lives and place more and more emphasis on the values that come from the Gospels.

               LORD, HEAR US …

5.                 We remember all who are ill at home and in hospital at this time: may they receive much care and love from family and friends and know that God walks with them in this moment of fear and doubt.

          LORD, HEAR US …

6.                 We spend a few moments with our private prayers before the healing presence of God … (Pause) …

          LORD, HEAR US …

Priest:                   Father of love, hear our prayers and shower us with your generous gifts of love

and peace.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
