Priest:         Jesus today fills his disciples with courage.  He does the same to us and so with trust now we pray for all our needs …

Reader:

1.                 Today we welcome the Franciscan Missionary Sisters for Africa on a Mission Appeal.  May their efforts in charity supporting the needy of our world help to inspire us all to reach out and support all those in need.

LORD HEAR US …

2.                 We continue to pray for peace in the world and for an end to war and violence: may our leaders promote the way of understanding and peace.

          LORD, HEAR US …

3.                 In today’s Gospel Jesus reaches out a hand to save Peter.  We pray for all those we know (especially within our families) who are living through a moment of crisis:  as they too cry out “Save me, Lord”, may they feel the protective hand of God’s care.

LORD, HEAR US.

4.                 In the first reading we see Elijah recognising God’s presence “in the gentle breeze.”  May we take quiet time away from the busy-ness of life to find a quiet moment with God.

          LORD, HEAR US …

5.                 This weekend we pray for all our young people especially those who this week have received exam results: may they never lose confidence in the goodness of God living within them.

LORD, HEAR US …

6.                 We pray that God will give eternal rest to BARMA DAWSON (of St. Sophia’s) and to all who have died: may they find eternal rest in Heaven … (Pause) … and we spend a few moments with our private prayers before the calming presence of God … (Pause) …

          LORD, HEAR US …

Priest:         Father of love, hear our prayers and lead us to be courageous witnesses of your values and way of life.  We ask this through Christ our Lord
