Priest:         Today’s readings make us aware of the faults that lie within our community.  We pray for understanding and compassion now as we present our needs to God  …

 

 

 

Reader:      

 

1.                 This weekend we pray for the world community, particularly for those caught up in the Hurricanes.  May the world community come quickly to the aid of those in distress so that peace and compassion may be restored to a needy people.

 

LORD, HEAR US …

 

 

 

2.                 For the Church throughout the world: that it may be a beacon of forgiveness and reconciliation to a people often ravaged by crimes of war and violence.

 

LORD, HEAR US …

 

 

 

3.                 For ourselves: may we be a forgiving people, recognising that before we can forgive others, we are forgiven of our own sins – by a loving God.

 

LORD, HEAR US …

 

 

 

4.                 We pray for a greater forgiving love and understanding within our community and in our families: may we seek to build up one another in God’s merciful love.

 

LORD, HEAR US …

 

 

 

5.                 We pray for all our relatives and friends who are ill – at home and in hospital – and for those who look after them: may they know the healing presence of Jesus Christ.

6.                 We pray for Jim Hefron and all our relatives and friends who have died: may they be received into the loving arms of God … (Pause)...  And also for all our personal need, we pray in silence … Pause …
