GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

24th Sunday of Year A

16th/17th September 2017

Priest:         Today’s readings make us aware of the path to forgiveness.  This path leads to hope and understanding.  We pray for these gifts to be poured on our community and our world  …

Reader:

1.                 This week we have remembered all who died in the attack on the Twin Towers in 2001 and those who continue to be terrorised by violence.  We pray for world peace: may world leaders never take us down the path to resentment and anger but rather on the path to peace.

LORD, HEAR US …

2.                 For the Church throughout the world: may it always speak out whenever necessary to support justice for all.  May the Church continue to announce to the world that Jesus looks upon everyone with the face of compassion and forgiveness.

LORD, HEAR US …

3.                 We pray for ourselves: within our families and among our friends may we be people of reconciliation.  May we follow the path of Christ, the path of hope.

LORD, HEAR US …

4.                 For our Parish and our local community: may we do all we can to make sure that we show the face of Christ to others and do not harbour anger towards others.

LORD, HEAR US …

5.                 We pray for the repose of the soul of FIONA FERGUSON and for all our relatives and friends who have died: may they receive the reward of their labours in Heaven …. (Pause) ….  And also for all our personal need, we pray in silence … Pause …

LORD, HEAR US …

Priest:         Father of love, hear the prayers that we make today and help us to be a community of forgiveness and understanding.  We ask this through Christ our Lord
