Priest:         We come before God now with our prayers and our hopes trusting in the mercy of Christ…

The response to LORD, IN YOUR MERCY is …HEAR OUR PRAYER

Reader:

1.                 Jesus directed today’s Gospel to the leaders of faith.  We pray for our Church and its leaders – that they will be faithful to the Mission of the Church and encourage us all to look outwards and not inwards.

LORD, IN YOUR MERCY …

2.                 The First Reading today says “House of Israel, is it not what YOU do that is unjust?”  We pray this weekend for our world leaders – that they may urgently seek the way of justice and peace.

LORD, IN YOUR MERCY …

3.                 We pray for our local Church of Galloway as we move forward with Embracing Change.  May we take as our model the words of St. Paul who today says “be united in your convictions and in your love with a common purpose and a common mind.”

LORD, IN YOUR MERCY …

4.                 For all those who are ill at home and in hospital: may they be aware of the healing presence of God.  For all in the caring professions: that they may see themselves as instruments of God’s compassion.

LORD, IN YOUR MERCY …

5.                 We pray for the repose of the soul of WILLIAM GUY (of St. Matthew’s) and for all who have died: may they rest in the peace of Christ in Heaven … (Pause) …

LORD, IN YOUR MERCY …

6.                  In a moment of silence we pray for our own needs … Pause …

LORD, IN YOUR MERCY …

Priest:         Father of all kindness, hear these prayers that we make in faith and lead us to follow the path of Christ your Son, the path of service and the path of happiness.  We ask this through the same Christ our Lord.
