GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

FEAST OF CHRIST THE KING – YEAR A

25th/26th November 2017

Priest:         On this feast of Christ the King we are invited to reflect on Christ’s Kingdom of peace, joy and love.  We pray that these values in our world, our Church and in ourselves …

Reader:

1.       We pray for the young people of our Parish and especially for the children preparing for the Sacraments of Confirmation and Communion: may it be for them and their families a time when they come close to one another and to Jesus.

          LORD, HEAR US …

2.       This week we have seen a world once again in turmoil – in Egypt and in Zimbabwe.  We pray for peace in our world: that our world leaders may not seek self-gain and self-importance, but rather seek service of those in their charge, especially the weakest and the poorest.

          LORD, HEAR US …

3.                 As we celebrate the Feast of Christ, we pray for ourselves: may we live by service and love and therefore build up God’s Kingdom within our community and in our families.

          LORD, HEAR US …

4.                 We pray for all who are ill at home and in hospital: may they feel the presence of Christ the King guiding them through difficult days.

          LORD, HEAR US …

5.                 We pray for the repose of the soul of CHRISTINE McDONALD (Stewarton) and for all who have died.  We pray for all those on our November Lists and for our family members, our fellow parishioners and all our friends who have passed away: may they all receive the reward of their labours in Heaven.

          LORD, HEAR US …

6.                 And we now pause to spend a few moments with our private prayers before the mercy of God … (Pause) …

          LORD, HEAR US …

Priest:                   Heavenly Father, your Son Jesus brought to our world a Kingdom of love and

Service.  Help us to base our daily lives on this ideal and so find true happiness.

Through the same Christ our Lord
