GENERAL INTERCESSIONS

EASTER MASS

PRIEST:  As we gather on this Night (or Day) of deep joy, we present our prayers before the God of Love, who shines in our hearts with hope …

(The response to our prayers is … BE OUR NEW LIFE)

READER:

In this Easter Mass we celebrate the Risen Christ taking us from darkness into light.  We pray for all peoples and all nations of the world, that they may leave behind the darkness of war, violence and corruption and walk in the light of justice and dignity.

LORD OF LOVE … BE OUR NEW LIFE

In this Mass we renew our Baptismal Promises.  We pray for all those young and old who are preparing to receive Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

We pray also for ourselves: that, on our journey of faith, we may pledge to deepen our love for the Risen Christ who brings hope and meaning into our lives.

LORD OF LOVE … BE OUR NEW LIFE

We pray for the Church throughout the world led by Pope Francis.  We pray that his ministry may be blessed as a witness or service and humility.  We pray also for our Church in Scotland: may we move from darkness into the light of renewed hope in Jesus Christ.

LORD OF LOVE … BE OUR NEW LIFE

We pray also for all our Parish Communities: may all God’s gifts flourish within our communities.  We pray also for our families: may we draw strength from Jesus Christ who unites us and promotes harmony.

LORD OF LOVE … BE OUR NEW LIFE

For Pat Cochrane, Jim Watson, Sylvia Armstrong, Alice Gallagher all who have died and all our departed friends and family, especially those who celebrated Easter with us in past years: may they rest in the new life of the Risen Christ.

LORD OF LOVE … BE OUR NEW LIFE

And now we pray silently for our own needs … (Pause) …

LORD OF LOVE … BE OUR NEW LIFE

PRIEST:  God our Father, the power of this night drives away all fear and restores hope.  May we experience its power in our lives and in the Church.  We ask this through Christ our Lord.
